Are Stereotypes of Arab Women Negative?

Stereotypes are preexisting notions that limit people and give them roles that are not suited to their abilities, as we all are aware of. Whether they are about gender, presence, or culture, they are risky and basic. They are susceptible to harming the people they target, particularly if they are unintentionally spread through famous culture and the media.

Many Westerners, for instance, think that Muslim women may live under a unpleasant regime where they are prohibited from working, having opinions, or even going outside their homes. This opinion is based on discrimination and ignorance, and it needs to end!

Additionally, there is a common perception that Egyptian men are harsh terrorists or fuel oligarchs who have harems of younger women. This picture has been promoted in children’s films and tv comics. Spencer Gift Shops also used to promote Halloween masks with hideous physical characteristics of Arab men and boys.

Fear and panic dominated cultural multimedia during the coronavirus crisis. So quips became a lot more common. We analyzed 1424 quips that were posted on Facebook and whatsapp during this time, and we grouped them according to their lebanese women for marriage elements. 508 of them were mainly bad and focused on female. We discovered that the majority of the jokes were rooted in stereotypes about Egyptian women and that they were frequently unintentional but still destructive to women’s respect.
